General Information

Delivery
In the United Kingdom work is despatched by Special Delivery. The item is insured for the full value and delivery is guaranteed by 1.00pm the following day. Postage and packing charges will be added to the cost of the work, they are usually between £3.50 and £9.50.

Items sent to the U.S.A. are despatched by International Datapost. This is the Royal Mail courier service. The package is fully insured and will be delivered within 72 hours. The cost is usually about 36 UK pounds per package (73 US dollars at the current exchange rate of $2.05 to £1.00). For items under 100 UK pounds airmail can be used but the full amount of the order must be paid in advance.

Special Delivery items can be sent with full insurance to most other countries outside the United Kingdom and this method of despatch is used whenever possible.

Payment terms in UK
When a quotation for a piece of work is accepted and an order is placed a deposit of 25% of the total is required to confirm the order. A completion date for the work will be given as there is often a waiting list of between 3-8 weeks. An invoice will be sent with the goods for the outstanding amount and this is due on receipt of the work
Payment terms Overseas
A deposit of 50% is required for overseas work. An invoice for the outstanding amount will be sent with the goods and this is due on their receipt.

Payment in US Dollars
Personal checks in US dollars can be sent and if the amount is under 100 US dollars (50 UK pounds) then no bank charges are applicable. For amounts in excess of 100 US dollars a fee of 9 UK pounds is charged and 1.5% interest is taken by the bank per check. The exchange rate at 30th July 2007 is 2.05 US dollars to 1.00 UK pound.

Timescale
When a commission is accepted estimated commencement and completion dates are given. Generous time allowances are usually made for each piece to allow for unforseen delays and so very often the work will be completed sooner than estimated. Very occassionally a piece of work takes longer than expected but if a completion date is likely to be more than a few days behind schedule then notice will be given. If a deadline is required for a piece of work then this will be confirmed and adhered to.
When timescale quotations are given it is on the understanding that a deposit will be sent and received as soon as possible. If the deposit is not received within reasonable time of reserving dates for the work then it may be necessary to delay commencement of the work to a later date.

Alterations to orders
Please note that if alterations are required after the content of a piece has been settled (and this is frequently the case with family trees), then these should be notified as soon as possible. If the work has already been commenced and alterations are necessitated then these can often be carried out with little difficulty but if much extra work is involved then an additional charge will need to be agreed.
Rough Drafts
A rough draft of any piece of work will be supplied on request for a small additional charge. Large drafts will need to be sent by post so the time required, particularly with overseas items, should be taken into account if there is a deadline to be met.
